Pokerstars VR – Virtual Reality poker game is about to come

This week PokerStars announces its plan for another innovation – Virtual Reality poker game. They call it PokerStars VR. The official launch will be later this year, for now, we have just some hints from Pokerstars. Check out if you’re gonna like it.

What is PokerStars VR?

The first thing to note is that it’s free to play. It’s also authentic (that means it looks great). It’s immersive, and it’s social. Once you put on the headset, you enter a visually stunning game environment. Nothing is real, and yet you can still handle chips and cards just as in the real world. And while opponents might be playing from the other side of the world, but you can study them for any tells they might have and even chat in real time.

What can you expect from this virtual world?

It’s the type of game you can immerse yourself in. Almost literally. We don’t just mean in the exotic virtual reality settings (think Macau 2050 or a Monte Carlo yacht) but with statistics. All the numbers, as well as observations about other players, are all available to you because it’s still all about the poker. And as you might expect in this level of the virtual world, it’s not all about behaving yourself. So yes, you can throw food at people, smoke a cigar, or even own a pet donkey if that’s your thing. Or you could be more civilized and share food, order drinks, even stream shows or sport.

When can you start playing?

Right now, the multiplayer no-limit hold’em game is in a “closed beta”. As you’d expect, a game like this needs intensive testing, which is why we recruited 100 hand-picked volunteers to put it through every scenario. As we speak they’re plugged in on platforms like Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and Steam. What with the headsets, we can’t see the look in their eyes. But the smiles on their faces tell us what we need to know. Once their work is done the commercial launch will follow before the end of this year.

Brett Murray won WSOP Circuit Thunder Valley

Brett Murray won WSOP Circuit Thunder Valley for $151.145 and the third gold ring in his career. He beat the field of 464 players. The guaranteed prize pool was $500.000 but the final prize pool was $702.960 for this $1.700 event.

Winning this tournament,  Brett Murray made his best result of career.

Before this title, his biggest win was $135.980 which he took when he finished as 2nd in California State Poker Championship. Overall, he earned $1.032.864 in tournaments winnings so far.

Brett reached the final day as a chip leader. There were 9 players at the beginning of the day. At the very beginning of the day, he took 2 knockouts and kept his chip lead. When there were 3 players left, he still had the biggest stack. Brett knocked out Adam Doung at the 3rd place and reached the Heads Up with Viet Tran. In the final hand Viet went all-in with 107 on the flop J83,  Brett called with KK. The turn card was 5 and the river brought Q.

Doug Polk, online superstar, is quitting poker

Doug Polk, another online superstar, is quitting poker.

Maybe one of the best poker players today, Doug Polk, announced that he will retire from poker. After playing $300.000  Super High Roller Bowl this year he found that poker doesn’t bring him the thrill it used to do before.  WCGRider (Doug’s online screen name) wasn’t successful only in online games. He has a lot of winnings from live games, both cash, and tournaments. 

But, lately, his YouTube channel was something that was drawing the most intention. Not just we could see him playing, but he brought mainstream news and comedy channel. In one of his latest videos, in which he was talking about his $100 to $10.000 challenge, he announced that he will retire from playing poker. However, his plan is to continue working on the news and comedy channel.

Definitely one of the most talented and the most hardworking players, he brought many innovations to the modern game. His challenge against Ben Sauce Sulsky is something that will for sure be one of the most popular parts of Online Poker History. LEX VELDHUIS BREAKS HIS TWITCH VIEWERS RECORD

Lex Veldhuis breaks his Twitch viewers record while playing the WCOOP Main Event. He finished 58th out of 2.044 players and won $28.632.

While playing that night, Veldhuis got the message from PokerStars about his new record. At that time he had 32,839 viewers. To remind, official record in Twitch viewers still holds Jason Somerville. He is the only streamer who had more than 37000 viewers at one time.  But, it looks like that Veldhuis has a potential to break it.

This is not the only online streaming record that Veldhuis recently broke. He reached 6000 subscribers on his Twitch. To celebrate that, he decided to play 25,000 WCOOP-62-H High Roller. “The $25K is going to be a very tough tournament for me,” said Veldhuis during his stream Monday night. “I have no illusions on being profitable in that tournament. We’re doing it as a stream celebration.” 

While Doug Polk, another Twitch poker star, has announced retirement, looks like Lex Veldhuis is more motivated than ever to write history in this new poker branch.

Ali Imsirovic – The winner of Poker Masters Purple Jacket

Ali Imsirovic had an incredible performance in this year Poker Masters. A 23-year-old professional from Vancouver managed to get to ITM in 3 out of 7 events. But what is even more impressing is that he took 2 titles and $1.288.000! He won a $25.000 buy-in no-limit hold’em on Wednesday, September the 13th. Just one day later he had another Title – $50,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em event. Besides these two titles, Ali Ismirovic finished in 8th position in kickoff $10,500 buy-in event. All these great results brought him Poker Masters Purple Jacket, a reward for the player of the series.

Ali Imsirovic said:

“There are very few things that can compare to this. This win is very prestigious for me because this event series has all the top players in the world. I know the World Series of Poker main event is seen as more prestigious, but in that event, you need to get very lucky across nine days battling against a below average field. In these fields, you constantly have to play your best because otherwise, you’re just going to get destroyed.”

As you can see, David Peters was just 10 points behind Ali. He won kickoff $10,500 buy-in no-limit hold’em event for $193,200 and  $100,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em main event for $1.150.000.  All we can say that this is an outstanding year for him, as he won 5 live tournament titles, made 18 final tables and cashing for a total $5.659.175 in 2018.
